The counter terrorism units from NSW Police and Australian Federal Police took custody of a man due to suspected terrorism. An operation was conducted in the suburbs of northwest Sydney with leads pointing to people behind the facilitation of moving some Australians to Syria to engage in armed combat.

The NSW Joint Counter Terrorism Team (JCCT) arrested a 25-year old Beecroft man who was leaving a prayer hall. Whether this event has something to do with what happened in Martin Place last Monday is not yet known.

The Beecroft man was set to appear in Central Local Court after the arrest.
