Tolls, Tolls, Tolls: asset sales and the cost of WestConnex

Cassi Plate

Tolls, tolls, tolls. Not only would electricity prices rise with privatization of the poles and wires, but if the money raised by the sale of state assets is spent on the $15 billion WestConnex octopus, we’ll pay ever-increasing tolls to use the tunnels and roads, predicted to be up to $26. The people with the furthest to drive will be the worst hit. And like the flawed business case exposed in Victoria for the East West Link, there'll be billions more to pay in access fees for decades. Labor still plans to build WestConnex.
