You may have heard of Dr David Pascoe, an Oakey Veterinarian and his wife Heather, a writer and woman of substance, who is passionate about breeding thoroughbreds. Indeed they say the horses bought them together.
They live on the Darling Downs in Oakey; you may have even seen David on television, in reference to Charlie Phillott the 80-year-old farmer who became the face of a public campaign after he was featured in David's letter which went viral on social media just before last Christmas. The 1000-word, open letter to the Australian public addressed what Mr Pascoe called "corporate terrorism" and stated that farmers were being "bullied, threatened and abused by both banks and mining companies (and) forced off their own land.
Or maybe you have heard Alan Jones interview Heather on 2GB, May 2014, http://www.2gb.com/audioplayer/43916#.U23_WTeKDIX, re the almost unbelievable harrassment, abuse and corruption they have had to endure over the past few months for speaking out.
Whereever you frequent for news, views, opinions and 'fighting for the truth for all Australians' I urge you to follow this 'salt of the Earth' couple. They are for the survival of Australia, keeping our country clean with water, soil and air and they will uncover the truth and strive to be 'the voice for the voiceless'.
New Hope Mine, Ackland is not critical for the Darling Downs - what is critical?
- fresh air free from particulate matter
- clean drinkable water
- clean water to bathe and wash in (not only human use but washing of clothes etc)
- clean soil - underneath and on top - grassy areas you are not afraid to let children or animals sit on because you are worried about what falls on it
- free from the fear of fire, explosion, the earth shaking, the constant noise, the dreadful odour, nausea, depression
- free from headaches day in day out, a host of other health problems too numerous to mention here

HOW NEW HOPE GROUP WON ITS APPROVAL FOR STAGE THREE.
Imagine this: a mining company set to be given 9 billion litres of precious water FOR FREE every year .
This means that Darling Downs farmers will see their water bore levels drop by 47 metres.
- there will be no farming
- no industry
- no communities
- no people
- no livestock
- not even any native animals
Imagine the food our farmers could produce with nine billion litres of free water a year instead.
Next, New Hope Group basically pays no royalties to the State of Queensland at all.
That means there will be;
- NO new roads
- NO hospitals
- NO dams
- NO new schools
- NO universities
- NO TAFES
- NO railways
NOTHING to benefit the Queensland people out of this massive project.
New Hope Group has, however, perfected a fantastic funding model: they give really good entertaining in lavish private boxes at the football and they give - through their subsidiary companies Brickworks and Soul Patterson's - really fat donations to the Liberal Party (nearly $1.6 million while this approval was sitting on Government desks waiting for approval).
Finally, here is the hard reality you may not even understand yet.
- New Hope Group intends to wipe out the Darling Downs food bowl and consume all the richest farming regions for themselves.
- They have another 8 or 9 coal mines planned for the Darling Downs.
- This has already been declared to Stock Exchange, and if you tell fibs to ASIC you usually get wiped out.
Please write an email and send it to the Queensland Speaker, Independent Peter Wellington, who holds the balance of power in this state.
You need to ask him to protect our water and to declare the Darling Downs will be legislated to be protected as a part of a new State Food Bowl that guarantees healthy home grown food for the people of Queensland.
That means -
NO COAL MINING
NO MINING OF ANY SORT
SECURITY OF TENURE FOR OUR FARMERS.
Clean healthy food will be the greatest gift you can give to your families and your children for the future.

David & Heather with their beautiful horses!
Hi, you may not be aware of this yet but Peter Wellington has signalled very clearly to Darling Downs farmers over the past few days that they have his support. Apart from being an Independent holding the balance of power, Wellington is a farmer himself and his father is still running the family dairy farm, so he has great empathy with what farmers are facing if this massive mine is allowed to go ahead. Wellington has been contacted by half of Queensland since the election regarding all the various issues and problems and his relatively small staff are doing their best to respond to everyone - and its a mammoth task after what happened during the LNP regime. I suggest that we all give the man a fair and decent go. He is a fair and ethical man - and he is the only chance we all have right now, so we'd better make the most of it. Regards Heather Pascoe.

..'I support the calls to protect the bore water and the farming land of the Darling Downs into the future.
