Confessions Of A Closet Designer

Bernadette Janson

I want to apologise in advance if this topic is way off target , if the mere mention of technology makes your eyes glaze over and the yawns bank up , hang in there, I may be about to convert you.

You may or may not know that I am in love with technology and have recently found another way to marry it up with my other great passion, beautiful rooms.

Successful renovating means keeping up with ideas and these days most ideas and inspiration are  kept in idea books online or in Pinterest.

I don’t know about you but I get a lot of satisfaction out of presenting my ideas in a way that looks really appealing and professional. I discovered that Apple Pages is a very effective way of achieving this. Of course your can do the same thing with a trusty old pair of scissors and a glue pot but we are in the 21st century after all!!

You can while away a few evenings in front of the computer with a glass of wine and  but when it comes to actually bedding down the design for your bathroom for example, you need to narrow down the options.

In a half an hour you can go through your collection of bathroom ideas, pull out the appropriate ones and assemble an inspiration page.

Once you have done that, you can hone in on the different components in the room and set up a selections page .

You then take your pages with you to shop for your renovation. Instead of presenting the usual scrubby old list you have a smart , eye catching pictorial representation of what you need . This helps the suppliers understand your vision for your renovation and relate to you as  the professional you are.

And to further appease the inner designer, download a free architect handwriting font  which really is the cherry on the cake!!Selections
